In July, 2005 I took a section of the Midtown Manhattan skyline (E 21st St to E 52nd St along 1st Ave) and transposed it onto that section of city grid, essentially making a map of the skyline using the streets. I then walked and video taped this route, the complete video is approximately 1:45 long.
In the two channel video piece that documents this work, the right screen the first person perspective of the walk as a single continuous shot. The left channel shows a long unwavering view of the skyline with a red dot that is synchronized with the walk in the right channel. It traces along the walk along the tops of the buildings while the walk traces the tops of the buildings on the streets.
